PAS2035 Consultants was proud to be commended at the South East Energy Efficiency Awards for our consultancy work supporting Fairhive on its flagship Social Housing Fund programme. Whilst awards naturally recognise the achievements of the client and delivery team, we are incredibly proud to have played a key role in helping shape what has become one of the strongest performing retrofit programmes in the region.
Our involvement began in 2024, long before construction activities commenced. Working closely with Fairhive, we provided strategic advisory support that helped establish the foundations for successful delivery. This included detailed housing stock analysis, archetype identification, property selection, retrofit suitability assessments, energy modelling, programme planning and the development of delivery strategies designed to maximise both funding opportunities and resident outcomes.
These pre-construction activities are often overlooked but are increasingly recognised by industry experts and Retrofit Information, Support and Expertise (RISE) as being among the most critical factors in determining whether a retrofit programme ultimately succeeds or struggles. By ensuring the right properties were selected, the right measures specified and the right risks identified at an early stage, Fairhive was able to enter delivery with confidence and clarity.
As the programme progressed, PAS2035 Consultants continued to provide specialist Retrofit Design, technical support and compliance expertise. Every design produced achieved first-time PAS 2035 compliance, helping to minimise delays, reduce redesign requirements and maintain programme momentum. Our independent technical oversight ensured that retrofit solutions remained focused on long-term building performance, resident wellbeing and funding compliance rather than simply measure installation.
The results speak for themselves. The programme has delivered at scale, achieved key milestones on time, secured additional funding from DESNZ and generated strong levels of resident and stakeholder satisfaction. More importantly, it has demonstrated how a well-planned, strategically managed retrofit programme can successfully balance decarbonisation objectives with practical delivery realities.
Beyond individual property designs, our contribution has included supporting strategic decision-making, identifying opportunities for programme optimisation, assisting with technical governance and helping Fairhive navigate the complexities associated with large-scale PAS 2035 delivery. This collaborative approach has enabled continuous improvement throughout the programme and has helped establish robust foundations for future phases of work.
The wider success of the retrofit programme undoubtedly contributed towards Fairhive's recognition as South East Housing Association of the Year, an achievement that reflects the commitment, ambition and professionalism shown by everyone involved. We are proud to have supported that journey and to have played a role in helping create a programme that is increasingly being viewed as an example of best practice within the Social Housing Fund landscape.
As funding programmes continue to evolve and expectations around quality, compliance and resident outcomes increase, the importance of robust strategic planning, technical leadership and independent retrofit expertise has never been greater.
